As Edinburgh's new city design leader, he is charged with championing architecture of the highest standards. But when he was asked to name his favourite building in the Capital, Riccardo Marini's selection raised more than a few eyebrows. One would expect most people to favour the imposing Donaldson's College or National Portrait Gallery or even the new National Museum. Instead, however, the Glasgow architect plumped for a 60s office block. Mr Marini chose No6 St Andrew Square - currently the home of insurers Scottish Provident - and described it as a "building that understands something about the city".
