City chiefs have appointed a second-in-command to new design champion Sir Terry Farrell. Riccardo Marini, former leader of the urban design group at Glasgow City Council, has taken up the city design leader post following the appointment of Sir Terry in February. The 45-year-old, who was born in Italy, will develop an urban design manifesto for Edinburgh City Council and host a series of workshops to raise awareness and champion good design. Mr Marini joined his diplomat father in Scotland in 1975 and attended the Mackintosh School of Architecture, where he gained a diploma in Architectural Studies and a master's degree in 1986.
