Glass roofs are on the cards for streets and squares in the heart of Aberdeen, the Evening Express can reveal today. Internationally renowned architects are being asked to draw up plans for glazed coverings over Union Street, The Green, Golden Square and part of George Street. And detailed models will also be built, showing possible Castlegate schemes - which could involve roofing over a large part of the area, creating glazed canopies around the perimeter or building a free-standing glass building in the centre of the square.
