A Scot's home is his castle – even if he has to build it

The Herald

For most of us, living in a castle is just a childhood fantasy. Turning that kind of dream into a reality as adults is normally for the very few and very rich prepared for a lifetime of expensive renovations and planning restrictions. That was up until now. A Scottish architect is helping childhood dreams come true with new-built castles made to order. Lachlan Stewart, based in Tain, Ross-shire, is designing and building castles – or towerhouses – from scratch. He already has built one towerhouse in Dorback, Speyside and is in the process of building another, larger castle in Tain. A third is still in the planning stages.
