The emerging Scottish Parliament building has come under renewed attack from MSPs who have compared a staircase jutting out of the main building to a "giant air cooler". As the scaffolding on the site gradually comes down, previously unseen parts of the £431 million complex are being exposed to the public's gaze for the first time. And some of the politicians, who are due to move into the building in four months' time, are not impressed. The east side of the MSP block, facing into the site, includes a three-storey overhanging extension, clad in timber louvres, to house a staircase.
