Gordon Murray and Alan Dunlop Architects and the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland are delighted to announce that "Big Ideas in a Small Place" will be the the RIAS Exhibition for the Edinburgh Festival 2004.
gm+ad have produced some of the most controversial, buildings in Scotland since they started working together in 1996. Buildings that the public and fellow architects have strong opinions about..........but that no one can ignore.
Since 1996, the practice has won 22 national and international design awards, including the First European Europa Nostra Award for Glasgow's Central Station; the British Construction Industry "Best Practice" Award; the Architecture Grand Prix at the Scottish Design Awards and a Special Award for the Best Commercial Building from the RIAI, for the Radisson SAS Hotel, in Glasgow . The Radisson SAS was also shorlisted for the RIAS "Best Building in Scotland" award in 2003 but was beaten by a pair of rendered brick walls and a bit of glazing in a Tiree woman's front garden that juror, Prof. Andy Macmillan called "a modern interpretation of the gazebo".
The exhibition will include details of their most recent work but focus on new projects. It will take place in the exhibition room at the headquarters of the RIAS in Rutland Square from Monday 2nd August to Friday 3rd September 2004.
