Bid to make drama out of Holyrood crisis

Scotland on Sunday

It has involved high drama, low comedy, farce, shameless over-acting and an out-of-control budget. But if the construction of the new Scottish parliament can be compared with watching endless reruns of the worst stage show ever, a real link between the worlds of entertainment and Holyrood can now be revealed. Parliament managers are considering whether to turn the building's state-of-the-art steel-and-glass debating chamber into one of the most expensive theatre venues in the world. The controversial plan would see the chamber - and other open spaces within the £430m building - hired out for use during recesses to the Edinburgh Festival and other events.
