One of the arguments advanced in favour of releasing embargoed TV interviews with the late Enric Miralles to the Fraser Inquiry was that it would allow the new parliament's chief architect to have his say from beyond the grave. That request was denied. Yesterday, however, the inquiry did hear from his closest partner in every sense – his wife. In the event, he could not have had a more powerful advocate. Benedetta Tagliabue described her husband as "a genius" and accused those who had requested constant changes as "killing" his vision. It was an impassioned display, bringing home to the staid environs of the Scottish Land Court just how much of a cultural clash there had been between the Catalan architect and those in charge of Caledonia's parliament.
