Appeal for Mackintosh buildings to join world heritage list

Glasgow City Council will employ a consultant to help gain world heritage status for the buildings of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, it emerged yesterday. If it is successful in the appeal to Unesco it would mean the buildings of Mackintosh, such as the Glasgow School of Art and Scotland Street school, would rank alongside sites of global cultural and historical importance such as the Taj Mahal, the Great Wall of China and the Acropolis.
