At an emotional day at the Fraser inquiry, tears were shed for the late Catalan architect, Enric Miralles, and it was revealed that there had been other tears during the fraught process of creating Holyrood. Brian Stewart, the career civil engineer who is chief executive of RMJM, the Scottish architectural practice which linked up with the Barcelona practice of Mr Miralles, EMBT, showed his affection for his Catalan counterpart as he spoke through tears about the news of the death of the building's signature architect.
