The Holyrood parliament cost has risen again, amid fears that it may not be ready for a planned Royal opening in the autumn, which could see the final price heading for £500 million. Saying that it "ought to be the last" increase, George Reid, the Presiding Officer, yesterday announced a £30 million rise in the cost of the building, taking the bill from £401 million, where it has been since last September, to £430.6 million. But Mr Reid also raised the prospect of further and more dramatic increases if builders fail to hit this summer's deadlines, warning that any slippage in the timescale could delay occupation of the building until next year.
