Plans for Capital 'design tsar' drawing to conclusion

Edinburgh Evening News

The appointment of a "design tsar" in the Capital has moved a step closer with city chiefs interviewing a series of leading architecture experts for the post. The urban design champion, who is expected to be appointed early next year, will oversee planning applications in the Capital as part of a bid to lift the standard of design. A working group set up by the local authority recommended to councillors in February that the design champion be appointed. It is understood the successful applicant will not be paid by the council for what will be an honorary position.
