How public's choice was ignored

Almost a third of all the responses to a consultation process for the design of the new Holyrood parliament were so derogatory that they had to be discarded, it emerged yesterday. Evidence presented at the Fraser Inquiry into the Holyrood building project revealed new details about the public's attitude to the architectural plans considered for the new parliament. Barbara Doig, who at the time was the project sponsor in the Scottish Office, was in charge of the exhibition of the five original designs which was put on around the country in June 1998.
