Crescent bridge in sweeping victory
A crescent-shaped bridge was chosen yesterday as Glasgow's latest river crossing, even though it is being described as "a long way for a short cut". Designed by leading British architects Richard Rogers Partnership, it was the favourite entry among members of the public who took part in a consultation exercise on the six shortlisted. It was also the unanimous choice of Glasgow City Council's judging panel and came top of a scoring system on technical aspects, including "buildability".
