Bank to the future

The Scotsman

A banking giant is to turn the clock back 200 years to restore its historic headquarters in the heart of the city to its former glory. HBOS today announced plans to restore its 19th-century headquarters at The Mound as the banking group prepares to celebrate the building's 200th anniversary. Designed by the well-known Victorian architect David Bryce, the headquarters, which overlook Princes Street, are one of the Capital's best-known landmarks. Work is expected to begin next year on an ambitious re-vamp of the building including the restoration of its Great Hall.
