Top award for nursery in Cowgate

A nursery in the heart of the Old Town has won a prestigious national design award. The Cowgate Under-5s centre scooped the best small project prize at the British Construction Industry Awards. The nursery, which was also nominated for the Prime Minister's Award for Better Public Buildings, was the only Scottish building to win an award. The scheme was developed by Buredi, a joint-venture between the council-owned arms-length company EDI Group, the Burrell Company, and the Castle Rock Housing Association.
