The controversial £100,000 ferry shelter on Tiree has been chosen as Scotland's best building, fighting off four challengers, including a major Glasgow hotel and garages in Edinburgh converted into mews homes. However, just 10 days ago the An Turas project failed to win the prestigious Stirling Prize on offer by the Royal Incorporation of Architects for the building that has made the greatest contribution to British architecture.
