'Hideous' shelter wins award for best new building

The Telegraph

Judges say islanders will learn to love it. A ferry shelter in a remote island, which has been described as "hideous, impractical and out of keeping with its environment" was named the best new building in Scotland yesterday. The £180,000 glass and concrete structure is designed to shelter passengers waiting by the pier in the low-lying and windy Hebridean island of Tiree.
