World focus turns to new Gallowgate
Renowned international architects, and students at the start of their careers, have joined forces to push the Merchant City into Glasgow's crumbling east end in what will be a world prototype for new homes of the future. Architects from Scotland, Holland, Switzerland and the United States are acting as mentors to 100 students from Strathclyde and the Rennie Mackintosh School of Architecture in a project to transform Gallowgate and restore Glasgow's historic east-centric heart.
