High school gets top marks in design awards
Its plain walls and flat roof may hardly give the impression of an architectural masterpiece. But this Edinburgh school has triumphed over groundbreaking designs across the land to claim the title of Britain's best new civic building. The £14 million St Thomas of Aquins High School was selected from 60 entries - ranging from public toilets and beach huts to a restored botanical garden - to be crowned with the national architecture award.
