A neglected piece of work by Scots architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh is to be unveiled to the public. The English terraced house designed by Mackintosh has lain in disrepair for decades. He was invited to work on the property in Northampton by renowned model-maker W J Bassett-Lowke in time for his wedding in March, 1917. It was his last major project and his only domestic commission outside Scotland. But the house, at number 78 Derngate, fell into disuse and was forgotten about after Mr Bassett-Lowke sold it. Now it has been restored to its original glory by a team of experts in a two-year, £1.5 million project.
