TWO of Scotland's most respected architects firms have merged, creating a business with the skills to tackle some of the country's most architecturally sensitive work. The merger brings together two Edinburgh-based firms in Morris and Steedman - considered among Scotland's leading post-war architects - and né Begg, best known for its work on heritage and conservation projects involving some of the country's most famous buildings, such as Hopetoun House near South Queensferry. The enlarged group, which will trade under the name of Morris and Steedman Associates, is already involved in plans to provide disabled access to the historic St Giles' Cathedral in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town.
