Andrew Doolan is passionate about architecture. Passionate, opinionated and so completely persuaded of the need to engender better buildings in Scotland that he has made himself the driving force behind the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland Award for Architecture. Its £25,000 prize, easily the richest for architecture in Britain, is funded by Doolan personally, together with his Point Hotel business. The success and popularity of his own projects (not least his pioneering regeneration work in the Merchant City area of Glasgow) have already won Doolan wealth and renown.
